Refrigerated Beverage Vending Machines

How Much Will I Save?

A university campus located in Toronto currently leases 75 vending machines and has asked their machine owner to replace the older units with energy efficient ENERGY STAR® labelled machines. Using the ENERGY STAR simple savings calculator, upgrading to ENERGY STAR labelled machines would save approximately 2,161 kWh/year/machine, or 162,075 kWh/year for all 75 machines. Based on an electricity rate of $0.0802/kWh, the school would save approximately $12,998 per year. If the schools were to operate all the vending machines using the ENERGY STAR operating software, they would save an additional 24,750 kWh/year, resulting in total savings of $14,983 per year. A summary table is provided below.
