Training and Workshops for Federal Buildings

The Federal Buildings Initiative (FBI) has long recognized that upgrading the knowledge and skills of building operations and maintenance staff ensures sustainable energy savings and is a fundamental building block of an effective energy performance contracting project. Continuous, in-depth energy management training can help boost savings an additional 10 to 15 percent.

Dollars to $ense

Dollars to $ense is a series of one-day workshops that provide information on finding and realizing energy savings. The Office of Energy Efficiency holds the following workshops in cities across Canada throughout the year:

  • Spot the Energy Savings Opportunities
  • Energy Monitoring
  • Energy Master Plan
  • Energy Efficiency Financing

In a customized FBI-specific workshop, standard Dollars to $ense curriculum is supplemented by FBI program information tailored to highlight examples and data drawn from your unique energy management situation. For more information, contact us.

Building Environmental Systems Program

Seneca College of Toronto, Ontario and a network of community colleges across Canada offer the Building Environmental Systems (BES) program.

This in-depth, college accreditation program provides support for sustainable energy savings, enhanced competitiveness, and improved environmental management through systems focused, energy management training for all building sectors.

The program is characterized by individual training plans based on a Training Needs Assessment and a professional College evaluation, which allows organizations to benchmark the current level of employee effectiveness and to identify those measures required for continuous improvement.

RETScreen® Training

Natural Resources Canada is currently offering an introductory training seminar on Version 4.0 of the software in cities across the country. This software evaluates the technical and financial viability of various renewable-energy and energy-efficient Technologies (RETs)

Other Training

There are also opportunities to benefit from training from outside organizations.
