Energy Partnerships Program
Objectives and Description:This Program provides funding to communities and organizations for activities that help them prepare and develop renewable energy projects. It includes three areas of focus:
- The Partnership Stream - supports Indigenous communities by funding activities involved in assessing and developing partnerships for the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) Program and transmission projects. This includes conducting legal, technical and financial due diligence. It also supports municipalities, co-ops and public sector entities in developing partnerships specifically for FIT projects.
- The Project Development Stream - funds the soft costs associated with developing renewable energy projects under the FIT Program, including obtaining regulatory approvals.
- Remote Project Development Sub-stream - specifically for the four remote First Nation communities where transmission connection has been identified as uneconomic, this stream supports the development of solutions to reduce reliance on diesel use.
